Former Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld admits he turned down Liverpool to join Atletico Madrid.
The Belgium international signed for Atletico on transfer deadline day.
"Atletico have followed me for two or three weeks - and I could see that they really wanted me. That's why I turned down requests from other teams.
"Liverpool, for example, came on the last day, but I had already made my decision. The truth is Atletico made a huge effort to convince me," he revealed.
