Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has ruled out Thibaut Courtois facing parent club Chelsea in the Champions League. Both teams are into the semifinals and should they be drawn together, Courtois will have to sit out the games.
A clause in his loan deal means Atletico would have to pay a penalty to field the Belgian against Chelsea.
Last night, after victory over Barcelona, Cerezo was asked about Courtois' status: "He won't play. We cannot afford the price."
It's claimed Atletico would have to part with €3 million for Courtois to face Chelsea.
