Atletico Madrid coach Simeone praises matchwinner Morata: He'll keep improving

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was pleased with victory over Real Betis on Sunday.

Atletico won 2-1 with Alvaro Morata hitting the winner.

Simeone later said: "We came from a tough game, the other day we couldn't reach the final, which we wanted with enthusiasm and it could take its toll. Our people were very good, they supported us at all times despite the result that we couldn't give them on Thursday.

"We started very well the game but we were able to be bigger in the lead and the game began to have another dynamic. They improved positionally, but we had Mario's to close the afternoon and football. They make it 2-1 and fear appears, everything that goes around for the negative people and luckily there are more positive people.

"We were running out of energy but we replenished it with Reinildo, Savic, Llorente higher up. Oblak blocked a great shot but the victory gives us strength, strengthens us and we needed it.

"If we look at LaLiga we are developing quite well. Looking at that part, which is LaLiga, we are on the right track, we need to improve away from home as we know and let's hope that this victory gives us that energy."

On Morata, he said: "What I have found out is that it is the best goal average he has had in his career in the Primera and he is going to do more, he will continue to improve these numbers, it is very important and I hope it pushes us towards what we want. I liked Memphis, he did a great game and it adds us to what's coming now."
