Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says their title hopes are over.

Atleti suffered defeat on Saturday to Sporting Gijon.

Simeone revealed that "the aim laid down by the club is to finish third, and that's what we're fighting for". He also went on to admit that this defeat had put pay to his side's faint chances of winning the title: "After this defeat, it's impossible for us to finish as champions".

On playing at 4pm, Simeone added: "We played at prime time, at 16:00 so that they can watch us in China, we're happy with that..."
