Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was delighted with the debut of Fernando Torres for their Copa del Rey win over Real Madrid.

Torres started the 2-0 first-leg victory.

"He conveys excitement and energy. He's in great form, strong and maybe needs some time to gel with his new team-mates," said Simeone.

With more playing time he'll get better."

Simeone also commented on new signing Cani, who joined this week from Villarreal.

"He's a great talent and adds to Koke, Arda or Griezmann. He will give us a different option in aiding us in competing in the way we want."
