Atalanta coach Gasperini happy with Rakow rout: I expected more from them

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was delighted after their 4-0 Europa League win against Rakow.

The result sees La Dea finish as their group winners.

Gasperini said, "Admittedly, I expected better from Rakow and they gave us considerably more problems in the reverse fixture, so perhaps they are just in a bad period of form.

"However, I get the feeling I am not considered credible now, because I said yesterday that I would use the players best suited to the game. I had some lads who could get this opportunity to show what I see in training, but also make the club aware of the talents coming through.

“Perhaps seeing this performance, some players might be a little more worried at losing their place! It's true that it got easy as time wore on, but we did well to make it seem easy."

He added: “There are lads with important technical qualities, they know how to be on the field. I am very happy not just with Bonfanti, but also with Tommaso Del Lungo. He had trained with us last season too, had some difficulties, but played really well today. He is still green physically, but is showing what he can do."
