Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood insists the club will not fully test young goalkeeper Jed Steer.
With Shay Given struggling with injury ahead of next weekend's FA Cup final against Arsenal, 22-year old Steer could be considered after making his debut in the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Burnley on Sunday.
However, Sherwood says usual number one Brad Guzan will be back in goals at Wembley if Given, who has played the entire FA Cup campaign, does not get up for the May 30 meeting with the Gunners.
"You wouldn't want to throw Jed in, he's not had much experience in a Cup final. With the injury to Shay it was an opportunity to look at Jed," said Sherwood after the loss to the Clarets.
"If Shay wasn't going to make it and Brad was to get injured we'd have a problem."
