Aston Villa striker Finn Azaz dubbed 'fantastic individual'

Aston Villa striker Finn Azaz is impressing on-loan at Plymouth Argyle.

The 22-year-old signed a season-long deal at Plymouth in League One where he's started all but one of Argyle's nine league games.

Republic of Ireland U21 coach Jim Crawford said: “Finn, when I was the under-18s coach, was on the radar when he was at West Brom. He was at Newport last season and won young player of the year in League Two, was in the EFL team of the season and I've been to watch him play a few times this season and he's been excellent.

“He's an attacking midfielder, he's clever and picks those pockets of space. It's not like he gets attracted to the ball, he's a really mature player and, above all, he can score goals.

“I spoke to Gerard Nash, who was involved in the Association, who's gone to work at Aston Villa as a coach and he's spoken highly of him and, again, you want to learn about a player's character. He said he's a fantastic individual.

“He's playing, he played the other night and I saw the game against Oxford and I thought he was excellent in a really good Plymouth team. I'm really looking forward to working with him and I think he'll bring real value to the squad."
