Aston Villa are stepping up their search for a goalkeeper.

Given they have concluded a deal to sign the Egyptian forward Trezeguet, Villa can turn their focus to other positions.

The Express & Starsays manager Dean Smith wants to sign an experienced keeper.

Their primary target is Jack Butland, but Stoke are refusing to lower their asking price.

Other alternatives include Neil Etheridge from Cardiff City and Tom Heaton from Burnley.

Villa are also close to completing the signing of Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz for roughly £15 million.
