Aston Villa star John McGinn has spoken about his interaction with Andy Robertson after their game against Liverpool.

Villa defeated the Premier League champions 7-2 at home on Sunday.

It was a shock result, and one that McGinn and his teammates thoroughly enjoyed.

McGinn and Robertson are teammates at international level with Scotland.

"He was good, respectful," the midfielder told Sky Sports.

"I think he understands. He's won just about every other game over the past three or four years, so he can gives us this one."

On the match itself, McGinn added: "It was a bit strange. Obviously, I didn't expect to beat the world champions so convincingly.

"So confidence is high in the Villa camp and I can only try to use the confidence I have at the minute to help my country. Hopefully, I can do that."
