Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood admits he does not have a squad at his disposal who are well-matched to get involved with a relegation battle.
Villa defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 courtesy of a very late penalty from Christian Benteke on Tuesday night which saw them climb out of the drop zone and Sherwood hopes his side can record further points quickly to avoid an out-and-out bottom three fight.
"We've got a group of players who are not really suited to a relegation battle, if I'm honest," he said.
"The old-fashioned style is blood and thunder to dig out results so we have to change it."
Villa host the Baggies in another West Midlands derby in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday before turning their attention to the March 14 trip to fellow strugglers Sunderland.
