Aston Villa signing Jhon Durán will have his medical in Colombia to complete a transfer to the Premier League club.

The 19-year-old is signing from MLS side Chicago Fire, where he netted eight goals in 22 league games.

According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Villa were hoping to get the attacker to Birmingham for his medical.

However, the Colombia national team had other plans, as Durán is currently away on international duty for the Under-20 South American Championship.

Sierra tweeted: "Despite the fact that #AstonVilla wanted Jhon Jader Durán (19) immediately for medical exams in Birmingham, finally the Sel. Colombia agreed to have them done, but in Cali. He has permission to be absent for a few days from the camp to sign his contract."
