Tim Sherwood has implored Aston Villa's best players to show commitment to the cause.

Sherwood was speaking of star striker Christian Benteke as well as such players as Ron Vlaar who are being linked with potential summer exits.

Liverpool are keen on Benteke while Vlaar has been linked with Manchester United but Sherwood wants them to take a leaf out of captain Fabian Delph's book by showing loyalty to Villa.

"This club might be a lot different (next season)," he said.

"I can't think of too many footballers who would have signed a four-year deal like Fabian Delph did when he could have gone to the top four.

"Maybe Aston Villa is a club they want to show loyalty to. Let's hope they all follow suit. But I believe even if we didn't make a signing we wouldn't be in this position again."
