Dimitar Berbatov is close to joining Aston Villa.

The veteran Bulgarian striker is a free agent after leaving French club AS Monaco earlier this summer and is expected to sign with Villa on a free.

Villa sources have reportedly told The Mirror that Tim Sherwood is supremely confident of landing Berbatov who has played for Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham during his time in England.
