Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has been linked with a surprise move for former star Ashley Young.

Young left Villa in 2011 to join Manchester United and now, with one year left on his contract and having not yet been offered an extension, is being linked with a possible Old Trafford exit according to the Daily Mail.

The Englishman, however, was one of the shining lights at Old Trafford last season and his versatility is reported to have pleased boss Louis van Gaal.

Tim Sherwood is busy seeking reinforcements to bring to Villa Park and having been linked with moves for Tottenham pair Emmanuel Adebayor and Andros Townsend, Sherwood sees Young as the final piece of a new look Villa attack line.
