Aston Villa hoping to tie down Juventus target Vlaar, England midfielder Delph

Aston Villa chief executive Tom Fox insists the club is determined to secure Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph to new contracts.

Captain Vlaar, who is being linked with a winter move to Juventus, and England midfielder Delph are both out of contract at the end of the season but Fox is hopeful that the key pair will soon commit themselves to the Villa cause.

"We're talking to both players," Fox told the Birmingham Mail of Vlaar and Delph who are currently both out with injury.

"Ron has been fantastic for us. We're looking forward to him coming back and contributing. Our conversations with him are on-going.

"It's the same with Fabian.

"It was really unfortunate that he got injured in training because he was having an absolutely fantastic start to the year.

"We continue to talk with him. He's a great young player who has been with us for seven years."
