Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has made no secret of his desire to sign Tom Cleverley on a permanent basis.

The 25-year old midfielder has impressed on his season-long loan from Manchester United and Sherwood insists he is keen to have him at Villa Park as he gets set to come out of contract at Old Trafford.

"I have told Tom I want him to stay," Sherwood said.

"We will have a chat with his representatives and see if we can get a deal done. He will have a few options.

"He's enjoyed his time here, I think he has flourished."
