Aston Villa could yet send Danny Drinkwater back to Chelsea in the coming days.

The Birmingham Mail says Villa have fined Drinkwater two weeks wages, but could still cut his loan deal short, according to reports.

The on-loan Chelsea midfielder was sent home from training on Tuesday for an alleged head butt at Bodymoor Heath.

There were reports that Villa could end his spell with the club, after already having his time at Burnley cut short earlier this season.

However, the Mirror have reported that Smith has slapped a monetary fine on the 30-year-old, although further punishment could still be in the offing.
