Aston Villa chief Purslow insists no pressure to sell star trio

Aston Villa chief Christian Purslow insists they're under no pressure to sell their best players.

Purslow accepts that Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings and John McGinn, will continue to draw interest from the most successful clubs.

Asked whether Villa are able to reject high bids for their best players, Purslow said: "We can say no. We do have a number of wonderful players. It's a big compliment that we have brilliant players that attract the attention of lots of clubs around Europe.

"I'm absolutely proud to say these boys love playing for Aston Villa and we are a club these days who don't have to worry about selling our assets to survive. We are in a different situation now.

"We have a team of very young players with great international futures ahead of them and that is the most important thing for the financial and footballing health of a club - that you have players that are assets, who are improving all the time and whose values are improving.

"That gives you the flexibility summer to summer to look at those players and sometimes sell players and then go again.

"We, like every club in the Premier League, may have to do that in future but the important thing is to have a collection of really valuable assets and we do."
