Aston Villa are chasing Italian playmaker Gaetano D'Agostino.
The 32-year-old would be able to move outside the transfer window as he is a free agent.
D'Agostino has played for Roma, Udinese and Fiorentina but has been without a club since leaving Siena at the end of last season when the Serie B club ran into financial problems.
D'Agostino, who has five caps, has interested Turkish club Besiktas but would prefer a move to the Premier League, says the Daily Express.
