Aston Villa boss Smith admits spending spree far from over

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith says their spending spree is far from over.

Smith has spent upwards of £83m so far this summer, and is reportedly interested in Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz. They have already signed defenders Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Matt Targett, whilst forwards Jota and Wesley Moraes have also joined.

"There's still more business to be done," he told the club's official YouTube channel.

“There's been reports out there that we're signing everyone and anyone. Which isn't the case.

“A lot of the players we've been linked with, we've not even spoken about them. That's the nature of the beast.

“It's a small window for us, having finished on 27th May and going through until deadline day on 8th August.

“In that short amount of time we've got some really good work done. But we need to do a bit more."
