Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood admits he'll perform a major clearout this summer.

Experienced performers like 39-year-old Shay Given, defender Alan Hutton, Brad Guzan and England midfielder Joe Cole, who were all involved in Villa's cup final squad, are among those expected to now leave alongside striker Darren Bent. Dutch defender Ron Vlaar is at the end of his contract.

"There will be a few changes, as many as we can possibly do," said a candid Sherwood after their FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal. "We know we need to improve.

"Some of the boys have been told already they won't be here next year or they can go and find other clubs.

"I'd like to be that honest with them and don't want experienced players strung along as I don't think it's right. We will be bringing in additions."
