Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes he has a quality player on his hands in Carles Gil.
The 22-year old Spanish midfielder made an impressive debut in last weekend's 2-0 home loss to Liverpool, coming on in the second half, which has been further enhanced by strong efforts on the training pitch.
Ahead of Sunday's FA Cup fourth round meeting with AFC Bournemouth, Lambert spoke highly of the talented Spaniard who joined from Valencia for around £3.2million earlier this month.
"He's been really good in training," Lambert told the club's official website.
"He has a low centre of gravity, the ball sticks to his feet, he makes things happen, he's exciting and the lads want to give him the ball because of the way he is.
"His performance against Liverpool was first class.
"To come on and play the way he did in that magnitude of game, he lifted the whole stadium. It was great.
"He is an excellent footballer, he has a great touch, he has a low centre of gravity and I think he's a typical Spanish player - technically he is first-class.
"He's only been here a short time but there's a lot more to come from him.
"We let him play with a bit of freedom to go and create things. He's enjoying his football. He's fitted in excellently for us."
