Ashley not short of candidates to succeed Pardew at Newcastle

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley won't be short of replacements should he choose to dump Alan Pardew.

He needs no reminding that Glenn Hoddle, Roberto Di Matteo and Frank Rijkaard are out of work at the moment while Tim Sherwood and former Newcastle striker and fans' favourite Les Ferdinand could fit the bill if Tottenham go for a big-name manager, says the Evening Chronicle.

It is believed that Di Matteo and Rijkaard would be prepared to listen if Newcastle came calling.

Lee Clark, who has led Birmingham City to survival on a shoestring budget, is also the choice of some sections of the Newcastle support.
