Incoming Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants Freddie Ljungberg to be part of his backroom staff.
The Gunners have reached an agreement with Manchester City for Arteta to be the club's next manager.
Arteta is expected to be appointed before the end of the week and is set to take charge for the trip to former club Everton on Saturday.
ESPN says caretaker manager Ljungberg is set to be kept on by the club as part of Arteta's backroom staff.
Arteta is keen to keep the Swede on in some capacity, although the requirements of his role are unclear.
