Andrey Arshavin is digging in his heels at Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger sat down with the 31-year-old at the end of last season to confirm he was surplus to requirements.

But despite fresh interest from Russia, Arshavin wants to prove himself again at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal had been willing to let Arshavin leave for as little as £1million but the player who is now in the final year of his current contract worth around £80,000-a-week, is determined to stay put.
