Arsenal, Wolfsburg battling for Fulham keeper Schwarzer

Arsenal are stepping up their bid for Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

The Daily Mail says Arsenal want 37-year-old Schwarzer, who also has interest from Wolfsburg, after weighing up more expensive alternatives abroad.

The Australian has one year left on his contract at Fulham and is due to hold talks when he returns from World Cup duty.

He has voiced concerns about whether Roy Hodgson will remain at the club and Arsenal's interest offers him a big chance to play at the top level.

Fulham would command a modest fee of around £4million for the keeper and have already made inquiries about possible replacements.
