Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has no problem having to prove himself with the England U21s again.
"It wasn't a surprise to be named in the 21s," Walcott told The Sun. "After all, I only had my first start against Blackburn last weekend.
"It's a real honour to be asked to play for England. At whatever level. Whenever I am called up - and whatever team - I will be there and I will try my best.
"At 20, I'm still eligible and we'll see what happens over the next few days. I'm looking forward to the prospect of playing in the Under-21 Championship this summer.
"I missed the last one because my right shoulder went.
"Manager Stuart Pearce was great because he told me I had to look after my health first and be fit for the following season.
"I might have been able to go but he set my mind straight and said I should get the operation.
"If I can get the chance to play this summer, then great. I'm up for it."
On his shoulder, Walcott added: "Now it's been fixed, mentally, there's nothing there in my mind about what might happen.
"That just gives you that extra bit of confidence because I've known my shoulders could be a problem for a while."
