Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains in the market for a defensive midfielder.
The Telegraph says although he landed his dream signing for an attacking midfielder in Mesut Özil, Arsenal's scouts will continue to monitor proven strikers and developing holding midfielders.
They retain an interest in both Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney but much will clearly depend on how they now settle into life back at Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
They also failed in a bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender but will continue to monitor the Germany international.
