Arsenal are being encouraged to make an early bid for FC Basel defender Fabian Schar. The People says Arsenal spies watched the centre-half, 21, play for Basel in the Champions League last week.
Schar is a regular for club and country, and is all set to star in next summer's World Cup finals.
The Gunners could get him on the cheap - perhaps as low as £5million - and Wenger is planning a move before the price goes up as Schar's stock rises.
