Arsenal are keeping tabs on Karim Benzema's contract situation at Real Madrid.
The Daily Express says Spanish sources state that Benzema wants to see his current salary double to £135,000-a-week if he is to extend his contract, which expires next summer.
And Real are thought to believe that amount is excessive for a player who improved last season but is yet to truly prove himself a fan favourite.
The stand-off could pave the way for Arsenal to step up their interest in Benzema.
Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the striker and would love to bring him to the Emirates this summer, but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will be any more willing to meet Benzema's wage demands than Real are.
