Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to slap in a bid for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.
The Daily Star Sunday says Arsenal are in desperate need of another central defender after Thomas Vermaelen, 27, was ruled out for three months with a back injury.
Wenger has bid £8m and is reluctant to increase his offer for Swans ace Williams, 28, to any more than £10m.
The Gunners are short at the back after releasing Sebastien Squillaci and loaning out Johan Djourou to Hamburg.
