Arsenal signing Park expects to meet 2-year military service

Arsenal signing Park Chu-young does expect to fulfil his South Korean military service.

Park only moved to Arsenal last week from AS Monaco in a big money move.

The striker has told reporters he expects to return to Korea in 2013 to fulfill his compulsory two-year military service requirement.

The stars of South Korea's World Cup side of 2002, who made history by becoming the first Asian side to get to the semi-finals, were all given a special exemption from military service. That meant players such as Park Ji-sung of Manchester United have been able to compete at the top level into their 30's.
