Arsenal are prepared to offer Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer a coaching role to help land his signature.
The Australian international has been linked with the Gunners for the past few months but Fulham were standing firm, saying they did not at all want to sell their number one stopper.
Now it has been revealed that Arsene Wenger has offered the 37-year old a player-coach role to offset the £4million they reportedly do not want to pay.
Any decision on Schwarzer's future will be held off until Fulham appoint a new manager following Roy Hodgson's departure to Liverpool.
