Arsenal see a deal for Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira as a boost to plans of bringing teammate Daniele Rugani to London.
Gazzetta dello Sport says the Gunners are said to be turning their attentions to the Juve centre-back Rugani to help solve their defensive woes.
Rugani has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at the Serie A club, and the Gunners have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old several times in the past.
Khedira is also on Arsenal's radar, but he would have to take a pay cut in order to complete a move to North London.
Khedira was spotted at the Emirates for Arsenal women's pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich, although Gunners boss Unai Emery appeared to distance himself from a deal.
