Arsenal are believed to be making an enquiry into the availability of Newcastle United's Cheick Tiote.
The Express reports that the Gunners are pondering a move for the hard-tackling Ivory Coast midfielder who has been valued at £8million.
It is believed that Tiote, who arrived at St James' Park from FC Twente in 2010, is ready to leave the Magpies and that has alerted Arsene Wenger who is still looking for a holding midfielder.
The north London club have been linked with Real Madrid's Sami Khedira, Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo and Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho this summer but it appears as though they will miss out on all three making Tiote a feasible option.
During the current summer window, Arsenal have already pilfered Mathieu Debuchy from the Toon and are now hoping to lure his former teammate Tiote to the Emirates Stadium.
