Arsenal are interested in Udinese defender Cristian Zapata.

The News of the World says the Colombian defender is carrying a £6million price-tag and Arsene Wenger will move in as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

The Gunners boss is confident William Gallas will stay at the Emirates but he needs a versatile defender and Zapata, 23, fits that bill.

A source said: "Arsene is very happy with his first-choice back four but with Sol Campbell and Mikel Silvestre set to leave, Zapata is very much on the radar."
