Arsenal have opened talks with the representatives of Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes. The Daily Express says the 31-year-old shot-stopper has revealed his admiration for English football, and has been linked with Arsenal after their goalkeeping issues this season.
Reports in Spain suggest that the Gunners have already made contact with Valdes' agent Gines Carvajal over the possibility of a 5m (£4.25m) transfer this summer.
Barcelona are thought to want a significantly improved figure, closer to £10m, but Arsenal are confident of securing Valdes on the cheap given his contractual situation.
