Theo Walcott has opened new contract talks with Arsenal.
The Sunday Mirror says the 22-year-old England winger will have just one year left on his deal at the end of the season.
And manager Arsene Wenger is anxious to avoid a repeat of the scenario that saw Samir Nasri quit the Emirates for Manchester City in a £20million deal during the summer.
Nasri had 12 months left on his contract - and if Arsenal had not sold him, they faced losing him for nothing next June on a Bosman transfer.
Wenger has told the board he wants Walcott's long-term future sorted out now.
