Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta reportedly vouched for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's character to Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have enjoyed the best of Aubameyang since he arrived in the January transfer window.

Despite Arteta and Aubameyang having a well-publicised bust-up later in his Arsenal career, the Daily Mail - via Metro - claims that Barca coach Xavi spoke to Arteta about Aubameyang.

The Arsenal coach only had positive words to say about the Gabon striker, and that is why Barcelona went ahead with the transfer.

Aubameyang scored twice and grabbed an assist in a 4-0 win over Barcelona's arch rivals Real Madrid at the weekend.
