Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool target Shaqiri leaves Bayern Munich for Inter Milan

Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri from German giants Bayern Munich.

The 23-year old Swiss winger has joined the Nerazzurri on a four-and-half-year deal despite interest from Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Former FC Basel ace Shaqiri arrives at the San Siro after spending the past three years with Bayern where he won two Bundesliga title and the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League.

"On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to wish Shaqiri a very warm welcome. We would also like to thank FC Bayern Munich and the FIGC (the Italian Football Federation) for their help in completing the deal positively and quickly," an Inter statement read.

Shaqiri revealed that Inter boss Roberto Mancini's desire to have him at in Milan was the overriding factor in his decision to join the Serie A outfit who currently sit 11th in the Italian top flight.

"I'm very happy to be here at Inter," Shaqiri told Sky Sport Italia. "Our target is the Champions League, for sure.

"I don't want to talk of Bayern Munich, I'm just glad to be here and I want to meet my objectives with Inter.

"Mancini called me, he wanted me very strongly. I'm happy to be working with him.

"As for Bayern, I said goodbye to my former teammates and with the club everything is clear.

"I exchanged a few words with (Lukas) Podolski, certainly. I like the city here, I like it all. Forza Inter!"

During his time with Bayern, Shaqiri made 81 appearances which yielded 17 goals and 19 assists in all competitions.
