Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for Sergio Busquets.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, the Gunners have made an opening bid of £24.4million for the Barcelona star.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger is determined to lure a top quality defensive midfielder to the Emirates Stadium and is prepared to match Spain international Busquets' enormous salary.

Both Barcelona and the 27-year-old do not want to end their association which has yielded five La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies among others, but the Gunners are willing to part with a massive transfer fee in a bid to land their man, according to varied reports.
