Arsenal loanee Afobe at the double as MK Dons shock Man Utd

Manchester United have been sensationally dumped from the Capital One Cup in just the second round by MK Dons.

The League One club have shocked the four-time league cup winners 4-0 at stadium:mk thanks to a pair of goals from on-loan Brentford striker Will Grigg and Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe.

Louis van Gaal's Red Devils were humiliated by Karl Robinson's Dons after the Dutchman made 10 changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Sunderland in the Premier League on the weekend.

Grigg opened the scoring from close range in the 25th minute before doubling MK's advantage just after the hour-mark when he chested home a cross from Ben Reeves.

MK were three to the good with 20 minutes remaining when Afobe fired past David de Gea before the 21-year old wrapped up a resounding triumph in the 84th minute when he raced past three United defenders before again beating de Gea.

The defeat certainly soured a positive night for United who had earlier completed the £59.7million signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid while MK will remember this result for many years to come.
