Arsenal, Liverpool alerted as Wolfsburg prepared to offload Draxler

Wolfsburg could be willing to sell Julian Draxler this summer, according to recent reports.

German paper Bild is of the belief that the Bundesliga club are preparing to part ways with the talented forward having missed out on Champions League football for next season.

It is understood that Wolfsburg's major sponsor Volkswagen made a loss of around £1.34billion last year which has been compounded by the team's failure to qualify for Europe's premier club competition for 2016/17, despite making it to the quarter-finals last term.

With the being the case, the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs indicates that financial problems have arisen.

Allofs said: "Clearly we have a lot to talk about. There were a few issues that have emerged in the past."

This has prompted rumours that their prized asset Draxler, 22, may need to be sacrificed in a bid to balance the books which is sure to alert both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Both clubs have been heavily linked with the former Schalke ace in the past, with the Gunners recently making a £43m offer, but it appears as though Wolfsburg may be asking for closer to £50m.

Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of classy winger Draxler, as is Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, but the increased Wolfsburg valuation may put both managers off.
