Arsenal legends Bergkamp, Adams in frame to be Wenger No2

Arsenal legend Tony Adams is in the frame to become Arsene Wenger's new No2.

Adams, 45, has picked the brains of former Gunners team-mate Patrick Vieira over his plans for a future in football.

Since quitting playing, ex-France star Vieira, 35, has landed a role as Manchester City's football development executive and Adams was keen to discuss the job when the pair enjoyed a reunion lunch.

"It was no coincidence that Tony and Patrick had lunch - and you can only imagine the various topics under discussion," a source told the Daily Star Sunday.

"One way or another it is clear that Tony is being seriously considered by Arsene.

"A new, influential face on the training ground will give the squad impetus next season and it has been obvious during some performances this season that some defensive coaching wouldn't go amiss, either.

"Patrick has a new perspective on football, thanks to his position at City.

"He will no doubt have gone over the situation at Arsenal."

Gunners' youth team boss Steve Bould and Ajax coach Dennis Bergkamp - another Arsenal legend - are also in the frame for the job in the summer.
