Arsenal legend Wright: Owen can do job for Stoke

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Michael Owen can make an impact for Stoke City.

Owen could see action for Stoke today at former club Manchester United.

Wright told Absolute Radio: "Well it's a strange one, because he's obviously maybe trying to get fit. I believe that in a Stoke side that play predominantly up to Peter Crouch, if he can play off of him, which is Michael's strengths to play off of a big man. Then, you know, you'd think that he'd be playing already, but it's not happened yet. It's a game that maybe he could play in, and maybe make a difference, especially with Man United being a little bit vulnerable at the back at the moment.

"If you can get good quality into Peter Crouch, and him feeding off him, yeah, you could see Michael Owen maybe doing something, but he'll most probably start on the bench again tomorrow. It's a really strange one, because I'm thinking you go to Stoke, Michael Owen you're going to Stoke to play. So I'm longing to see when he's going to actually start and have a run of games, so as we can actually gauge where he is and what he's capable of."
