Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny has moved to reassure Arsenal fans that his father's controversial views are not a reflection of his own thoughts. Maciej Szczesny claimed that Arsenal's defenders were at fault for the club's defeat at Southampton earlier this season - not his son - and singled out Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker for criticism.
Szczesny senior later wrote an online blog in which he branded Arsene Wenger disloyal and ordered Arsenal to let the back-up goalkeeper depart.
But Wojciech Szczesny took to Facebook ahead of Arsenal's FA Cup final against Aston Villa on Saturday to distance himself from his father's comments.
"Really shouldn't be dealing with this one day before the cup final but my father leaves me no choice," he wrote on his Facebook page.
"I have not spoken to him in more than two years and just like everybody else I have had enough of his idiotic comments about the football club and the manager I owe so much to!
"Therefore please do not consider his comments as my shared view. Thank you for your understanding!"
