Arsenal have informed Real Madrid they can buy Cesc Fabregas for £50 million.
While Cesc is keen to return to Barcelona, Real president Florentino Perez wants to lure the Spain midfielder to Madrid.
El Mundo Deportivo says Real's director general, Jose Angel Sanchez, was also told Arsenal would only sell to teams abroad as opposed to Chelsea and Manchester City who are also interested in securing his services.
The sudden surge in activity at Madrid was sparked, according to the Spanish newspaper, by Barcelona's comprehensive victory over Manchester United in the Champions League final.
The manner of the win highlighted to Perez the need of his own club to both prevent Fabregas becoming the natural heir to Xavi at the Nou Camp, and to create a dynasty of Spanish players at the Bernabeu.
