Arsenal gave 'strong response' in Turkey - Wenger

Arsene Wenger was proud of his Arsenal side after they bounced back to winning form with a 4-1 result over Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

The Gunners forgot about their shock 3-2 loss to Stoke City in the Premier League on the weekend by trouncing the Turkish side in Istanbul thanks to stunning doubles from Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey.

After the win, which saw the north Londoners finish second in Group D behind Borussia Dortmund, Wenger spoke of his side's response to the Stoke loss by praising his players for their brilliant performance against Gala.

"We gave a strong response from the start," Wenger said.

"We looked dangerous every time we won the ball back, we had good penetration, we scored good goals and until half-time I feel we were very strong.

"(In the) second half we suffered a bit more for two reasons - some players had not enough competitive games and especially I had to take two players off.

"We were a bit more lightweight in the second half in midfield, but, overall, it was a strong performance."
