Arsenal fullback Clichy: I would go ugly if it meant trophy glory

Arsenal fullback Gael Clichy says he'd happily abandon their free-flowing style if it delivered them silverware this season.

Clichy admits he's becoming ever frustrated with the club's trophy drought.

He told The Sun: "When you spend one year without winning anything but everyone says you play the best football, well you can accept that as a one-off season without a prize. But when it goes on and on and on and on, then you just want to win trophies.

"At the end of your career people remember the players for what they have won for Arsenal - Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole all went through the season unbeaten. That's why they are legends at this club.

"We are the new generation and up to this point we haven't won anything. Is that good enough?

"I don't think so and that's why I'd be ready to win silverware ugly rather than play amazing football and win nothing."
